I want S’more, please!

Needed: source of heat (preferably flame), marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers. Result: S’mores!

Pass that over here!

Pass that over here!

Now here is a day that is bound to be beloved by grown-ups and kids alike, especially mine.  Today we celebrate National S’mores Day, a day dedicated to the gooey, melted, crumb-generating dessert that is the choice of campers and dinner party guests everywhere. Somehow this dessert has managed to gain entry into the house as evidenced by the indoor S’more making kits I see at the department and grocery stores these days.

Unlike other Girl Scout camp phenomenon (for those for GSs out there: remember those “monkey breakfasts”? Now a bad slang term, of course) this original Girl Scout recipe from the 1920’s is an outdoor cooking favorite for many folks. Including my little monkeys!
